The National Association of Community-Based New Year's Eve Arts Festivals
Fishers, Indiana will be the site of the newest First Night festival when the town hosts its first-ever New Year’s Eve celebration on December 31, 2009. A suburb of Indianapolis, Fishers has a growing population that currently numbers about 65,000. Ranked the 10th best place to live in America by Money magazine in 2008, Fishers is home to several annual festivals, including the Fishers Freedom Festival, the Flavor of Fishers and the Fishers Renaissance Faire. This year’s First Night Fishers event hopes to draw on the successes of those events. Break-a-leg, Fishers!

The votes for the Best Button and Poster Contest for First Night 2011 have been counted! The
winners are:
Best Button: First Night Saranac Lake, NY
Best Poster: First Night Saratoga Springs, NY
Artist Carol Vossler and her design class at North Country Community College designed the winning button for First Night Saranac, NY. Sue Patterson, Co-Chair for First Night Saranac Lake
said, "We are very excited about this year’s design. It is colorful and fun and represents the music and culture of our community." As in past years, the button design was inspired by one of the banners created in the previous year by community organizations in celebration of the New Year.
The winning poster for First Night Saratoga, NY was designed by Sharon Bolton from Ambrosino Design, Inc. She has designed the poster for First Night Saratoga for the last several years. Jackie Marchand, Coordinator for First Night Saratoga, said, "Each year, Sharon takes our theme and incorporates it into a fresh work of art that amazes us." For 2011, the theme was LIVE
CREATIVELY. "Sharon took it and ran with it, using her talent to create a bold and exciting poster that captured the theme perfectly." The poster received lots of positive feedback from the public as well.
